First-Class Microscope Servicing, Maintenance & Repairs

We investigate problems, improve precision and elevate performance

Whether you depend on your stereo, life science, polarising, education, or material science microscope, it's crucial to ensure your instruments remain in excellent working order, with the highest level of clarity and overall optical performance. At Microscope Optical Services, we're equipped to carry out routine maintenance and servicing, as well as complex microscope repairs, which can be carried out on or off-site.

Whether you're eager to maintain optimum performance with complete optical and framework cleaning or require a full inspection with adjustments and re-alignments, we can provide one-off maintenance and long-term servicing to ensure your instruments deliver the maximum optical performance.

What is the difference between a stereo microscope and a compound microscope?

A compound microscope has one optical path, which is split at the observation tube to provide identical left and right images. It’s often used to view something in great detail that you can't see with the naked eye, such as bacteria or cells.

A stereo microscope is like having two compound microscopes side-by-side, but with an offset from one another to imitate the natural offset of two eyes. It is the offset that provides depth perception in ordinary life and for the three-dimensional view or “erect image” in stereo microscopes. Therefore, a stereo microscope is typically used to inspect larger, opaque, and 3D objects, such as small electronic components.

Testimonials

We at Airtech Analysis are extremely happy with the service that MOS provide our organization.

MOS are always our first port of call for anything involved with microscopy (PCM & PLM) whether it be for supplies or servicing. The office staff are extremely helpful and very accommodating.

We usually have Ryan come to service our microscopes. He is very informative, thorough, and helpful. He also came with doughnuts which was very well received by our office staff.

Airtech Analysis Ltd

The work carried out was very professional, did not cut any corners and once finished he went over the paperwork and outlined anything that needed to be done. He would be welcome back anytime to carry out the service again.

ALS Laboratories Food UK

Good, efficient service. Very helpful, would recommend.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead

I email to express my gratitude to the microscope engineers who cleaned and serviced our microscopes recently. They were very polite and tidy but most importantly, the microscopes have been cleaned beautifully. It is now a joy to look down the microscope and everything is clear.

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust

We have just had our annual servicing undertaken by your engineer. I would like to pass my sincere thanks to Jay and Microscope Optical Servicing for the great level of service and quality shown during our equipment servicing undertaken today. Jay’s approach to his work was very professional and he showed a great attitude to safety with the added pressure of Covid-19 control measures in place on site. We look forward to working with you again in the near future.

Element Sizewell A Site

I just wanted to thank you again for the microscopes and camera, and for transporting them to Lancaster. They are absolutely fantastic and my husband is going to be thrilled to bits. Thank you also for showing me how they fit together and for giving me a demonstration.

Christine Shirras

I was left very impressed with Microscope Optical Services. Despite my time constraints they were extremely helpful and allowed me to circumnavigate normal working practices and deliver the microscope out of hours. Professional, communicatively prompt, agreeably prices and willing to go the extra mile, I will be using them again and highly recommend others do too.

Redhills

Just to let you know that once again this year the academic staff have commented on what nice images we have got for our petrology work. The optics on the “old” Vickers and the Leitz petrological microscopes are all great and the TLC that you have given the Vickers’ microscopes especially over the last few years have made them work really well again for students this year. With the spare parts that you’ve managed to provide, we have had the largest number of microscopes in a good state since I started at the University 5 years ago.

Lancaster University

We have used Microscope Optical Services for several years to service and repair our 4-5 microscopes. All aspects of their service is extremely professional, reliable and helpful. We receive a “service-due” reminder several months in advance of the annual service date to ensure our microscopes are serviced on time, which is useful. The technicians who attend on site are always friendly and professional. When we require parts they have always been thorough in researching the right options to meet our requirements and are price-competitive.

An excellent and smooth service, the engineer was fantastic, talked through the issues and provided guidance for preventing problems in the future. An excellent service all round.

Eurofins Forensic Services Ltd

We would like to express our sincere appreciation for the regular service of several microscopes in our laboratories. A particular aspect to be thankful for is the attitude and careful consideration of the individual circumstances of each microscope. We look forward to expanding our business with you for years to come.
