Product Description

The complete optical path of the BX53 is optimised for brilliant fluorescence imaging, using UIS2 components that set new standards in precision and clarity. High-quality mirror cube coatings provide excellent transmission and steep cut-offs, while almost all stray light is eliminated from interior surfaces for the best sensitivity and colour separation. Other advanced features further facilitate fluorescence microscopy, including a new fly-eye lens system, which delivers homogenous illumination, and automatic magnification and filter cube read-out, which simplifies the repetition of settings.

Your Advantages

Optically ahead of the curve – The UIS2 optical system
At the heart of any light microscope is the quality of the optical system. Olympus UIS2 optical components have been developed to provide the perfect optical system, setting new standards in precision and clarity. The high NA objectives lenses are optimally corrected for chromatic aberrations and deliver high resolution, with even the faintest of signals being collected.

Dedicated to fluorescence
The objectives, new UIS2 fluorescent mirror cube range and 8-position mirror turret are optimised for fluorescence imaging. High-quality coatings used on the mirror cubes provide excellent transmission and steep cut-off slopes, while the interior surfaces e eliminate over 99% of stray light, ensuring the highest sensitivity and best colour separation. The mirror cubes can be exchanged quickly and easily without tools. The low autofluorescent glass materials used in all lenses further improve the S:N ratio.

A novel fluorescence illumination concept
Fluorescence illumination is at the forefront of life science microscopy. Olympus systems incorporate design features and components that will enable fluorescence to maintain this leading position. The most important development is the introduction of a novel fly-eye lens system which ensures that the field of view is illuminated homogeneously. As well as providing flawless illumination, the fly-eye system also enables simpler burner alignment.

Ambidextrous
The BX53 is designed to be ambidextrous for full control over the workspace and improved efficiency. The light control dial is in the centre of the frame and the transmitted attenuation filters, fluorescence shutters and focus knobs can be operated from either side. If the microscope is fitted with an Olympus digital camera, a remote exposure button is available, which can be placed on either side of the frame to enabe uninterrupted image framing and capture.

Automatic magnification and filter cube read-out
The manual encoded objective nosepieces and filter turret enable the microscope to detect which objective or filter turret position is engaged in the light path at any time. Information about the objective and filter cube in use is transferred to the software and saved in the metadata of the image, enabling exact repetition of the experiment using the same microscope settings to ensure reproducible data. The scale bar is adjusted accordingly when the objective is changed manually by turning the nosepiece.

DIC contrast that matches the specimen exactly
Three differential interference contrast (DIC) options are available: one for thick specimens, one for thin specimens and a universal DIC. This variety ensures optimal observation for different thicknesses of specimen in every magnification.
